An Adventure Wedding Ceremony in Queenstown
Amy & Casey wanted a Queenstown wedding ceremony that reflected their love of the outdoors and adventure. I think they nailed it… it’s the only wedding ceremony I’ve ever known that started with a hike up a mountain and ended with the bride bouldering in her wedding dress!
The wedding day began with a hike up The Remarkables to Lake Alta- including the groom carrying daughter, Chloe, in the baby pack!
Lake Alta is an Alpine Lake in The Remarkables mountain range. Once at the lake, the bride and groom had a quick wedding rehearsal in their hiking gear.
A quick change for the bride and groom behind a big rock- seriously, I’m not kidding- and these two adventurers were ready to roll! An old goat track doubled as an aisle and Amy picked up the bouquet from her mother and swapped the hiking shoes for bridal shoes half way along.
The wedding ceremony took place on a large rock that juts out over Lake Alta so that they and their guests could soak up perfect lake and mountain views.
After the ceremony, Amy and Casey were in no rush to get to their reception. Our bride now changed now into her rock climbing shoes and they went off to find some boulders to climb.
Amy and Casey filled their wedding ceremony with all the things they love most in the world- family, friends, adventure, and the great outdoors. Their big day is a great example that when it comes to your wedding ceremony anything goes!
Remember that your big day is all about you and what you want. Take a leaf out of Casey and Amy’s book and fill your wedding day with what makes you happy. It should be your big day, your way.
