THINKING OF ELOPING IN QUEENSTOWN?

HERE’S HOW YOU CAN… IN WINTER 2020!!

1. Heli-wedding

Yes, this is a REAL thing!! You and your love can start your wedding day flying high to your mountain top elopement. Imagine saying your vows and popping champagne in the snow with incredible views and ultimate privacy!! Your pilot and photographer can also act as your witnesses, how cool is that?!

Check out these cool snaps at Cecil Peak from Williams Photography

2. Lakeside Love

You don’t need to be up high to feel the high of your Queenstown winter wedding. With epic lakeside locations along Moke Lake, Lake Wakatipu, Lake Hayes and more, you will be surrounded by beauty and humbled by the impressive landscapes. Check with your celebrant or wedding planner about permissions needed to use these areas for your ceremony. Sometimes a permit is required for a small fee.

3. Hike & Get Hitched

After being cooped up in our bubbles, we’re so excited to get out and explore New Zealand’s beautiful backyard! Will you join us? And why not get married along the way? Perfect for adventurous couples who want to discover a new part of the country or re-visit their favourite spot. Again, a permit may be required for a small fee so check with your celebrant or wedding planner.

4. Fireside Romance

One of the best things about winter weddings is cuddling up with your new husband or wife beside a roaring fire! Many Queenstown wedding venues, hotel, bars and restaurants have indoor and outdoor fires perfect for an intimate wedding. They create the most beautiful backdrop and comforting atmosphere.

We love this grand fire place at The Winehouse for both ceremonies and receptions, captured by  Holly Wallace Photos & Films

5. Holiday Home Ceremony

How about booking a flash pad that serves as your ceremony space, reception venue, and accommodation for you and your guests? Queenstown has hundreds of holiday homes that allow events for small groups and have incredible lake and mountain views! You can order in your favourite takeaway or hire a private chef for the evening!!

I love intimate weddings at Lakehouse Joella like this one captured by Carla Mitchell Photography

6. Garden Views

The Queenstown Gardens offers all sorts of options for your Queenstown winter elopement. There’s magnificent lake and mountain views, moody forest areas, the band rotunda if you need shelter, and a picturesque pond with a sweet bridge. Plus, you’re only a short walk from town to your favourite restaurant or to grab fish & chips on the beach!
