CHARLOTTE FRANCES

OWNER, CELEBRANT, MC & WEDDING BLOGGER

Kia ora, hello, hola, nei hou… And big congratulations on your upcoming wedding

Originally from England, I moved to New Zealand in 2010 for a one year working holiday visa… And never left!

Whilst working for a catering company at many weddings I always paid attention to the celebrant. I was on my feet for 12 hours serving food and drinks, and it seemed like the celebrant would show up, say a few words, enjoy a glass of bubbles and leave. I thought, “I’m in the wrong job”.

I’ve always been a writer, love to play host, and am a confident public speaker. So I figured I’d give this celebrant thing a go! I quickly discovered it’s not as easy as it looks. It’s so important to have a good understanding of the legal requirements and processes, plus a great attention to detail, and the ability to balance sentiment and humour. But I enjoyed the challenge from the very beginning and I continue to expand my knowledge and experience to bring every couple I work with the very best ceremony that’s created just for them.

I like to bring creativity and a bit of fun to your wedding ceremony, and rest assured I’ll be dressed to match your theme or colour scheme to look the part. As a mum and an animal lover, I also get excited about including children and making sure that your pets get a special mention on your big day!

I absolutely love using my marrying super power and I can’t wait to meet you.

Why I love being a celebrant:
“It’s the only job where if you make people cry, you’re doing it right”
